Skyler is originally from California but grew up in a suburb of Raleigh, NC and always dreamed of moving to the mountains. After fostering a passion for animals her whole life, Skyler attended Calpoly SLO and graduated with a bachelors in Animal Science in 2023. She initially began her post-grad career at the North Carolina Zoo in the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center caring for native NC wildlife first as an intern, and then on a temp contract.Though she loved this aspect of animal care, she was ready for a stable and permanent position where she could positively reach the community in a more impactful way. Joining Sarge’s as the Foster and Volunteer Coordinator has turned out to be the perfect way to apply her knowledge from previous positions, her natural inclination for teaching, and her passion for community outreach.
