Helen grew up in Ossining, NY and moved to Waynesville from outside of Philadelphia in 2015.
Because of their love of the mountains, she and her husband Utpal, settled in Waynesville.
Helen holds an MBA in Human Resources from Long Island University in NY and had a 25-year
career in Human Resources which involved Employee Benefits, Pension and Workers’
Compensation.
Since retiring, Helen has enjoyed playing Mah Jongg with her friends, teaching Mah Jongg,
hiking, traveling, knitting, jigsaw puzzling and reading. She is dedicated to her daily walks in her
neighborhood or Lake Junaluska. She is involved in the Haywood Spay/Neuter, Sarge’s yearly
Mah Jongg Fundraiser. She also enjoys organizing her 2-day Mah Jongg annual retreat.
Helen loves animals both large and small. She has been volunteering at a local wildlife
sanctuary for the past few years feeding the orphaned fawns. She also volunteers as the
Website Administrator for her Home Owners Association.
Helen has been married to her husband for 34 years. He is a Chemistry Professor at Western
Carolina University.
The love of her life is her rescue pup, Lucy.
