Born and raised in the flatlands of central Illinois, Marci fell in love with the mountains as a

teenager while visiting family in South Carolina. Her love of animals came much earlier, as she

grew up catching all manner of wildlife, and following around the family dog. But caring for

animals, and living in the mountains would have to wait. Marci enlisted in the Air Force, where

she spent 20 years as a medic. After retiring, she pursued a degree in Health Psychology,and

made her way back to the mountains. By then, having several pets of her own, she decided it

was time to focus on caring for animals. She is right where she belongs.
