Why It Matters
How your donations help Sarge's
We depend entirely on support from our community of animal lovers to keep our organization running smoothly. These donations cover our animals' care, including their medical needs, food, preventatives, enrichment, and behavior needs, as well as kennel supplies, maintenance, and repairs. We also have staff dedicated to the welfare of our animals, including our kennel team who provide the most needed daily care, behavior, medical, adoptions, operations, and our volunteer and foster program. Other expenses include overhead such as rent, insurance, vehicle maintenance, and utilities.
Your donations of goods and services are also a huge benefit in helping us keep our animals happy and healthy and help save on monetary expenditures. We appreciate and all donations of supplies such as paper towels, Clorox wipes, scent free laundry detergent, dish detergent, bleach, old towels, blankets, dog and cat beds, treats, toys, collars, and leashes. Any donations that cannot be used on-site are sold through our booth at Cornerstone Mercantile, to turn such items into more funds for running the rescue.
Why the Animals Need It
All of the animals coming into Sarge's are provided with any needed vaccines, preventatives for pests and heartworms, and any outstanding medical care they might need to be healthy and pain free. Many need alteration surgery to insure that they do not produce offspring that will add a further burden to animal welfare in our county. In addition, the animals need mental health maintenance to make their lives with us as enjoyable as possible, as life in a cage among other animals can be stressful. This means that they must have regular access to people, toys, and time outside of their enclosures, as well engage in behaviors that are normal and necessary for their species.
Often, the population of animals we serve are very young puppies and kittens, seniors, in need of medical procedures, or have behavior issues that require extra resources such as extra veterinary care, including some surgeries and hospital stays, medications, medical testing, and behavioral consults and training plans. Our goal is to match as many animals as possible with a permanent, loving home regardless of the obstacles that must be overcome first.

Donations may be designated for Sarge’s “WuzBug Fund for Special Needs,” which was established to help with extraordinary medical expenses, such as heartworm treatments, surgeries, dental cleanings and extractions. Here’s the link for more information about WuzBug and the fund established in her memory.
